El vigésimo octavo Festival Musical de las Naciones Unidas será la 28.ª edición del festival y se llevará a cabo en el Suršnica Convention Center, de Suršnica, Suroland, del 21 al 30 de agosto de 2019, tras la victoria de Lewis Capaldi y su canción «Someone You Loved» en la edición anterior celebrada en el Movistar Arena de Mozzafiato, Santiago. Esta será la tercera ocasión que el concurso se realice en Suroland, despúes de la quinta y novena edición.

Hasta el momento cincuenta y seis países han confirmado su participación en el concurso.

Location

El concurso tendrá lugar por tercera vez en Suroland, luego de la victoria del país en la edición anterior.

Suršnica, city host

Venue

El Suršnica Convention Center de Suršnica es un nuevo recinto construido en 2018 para albergar eventos musicales de gran importancia en la región, se inuguró en 2018, luego de la demolición del antiguo centro de convenciones en 2016, tiene una capacidad de 24,000 asistentes, lo que lo convierte en el lugar cubierto más grande en Suroland. Está ubicado a 500 metros del Aeropuerto Militar de Suršnica, lo que lo hace de facil acceso.

Bidding phase

La Jefa de la Delegación de Suroland, Liliana Romero, declaro el 2 de agosto de 2019 que su país aceptaba celebrar la vigésima octava edición de UNMF, en la primera reunión celebrada entre UNBU y Suroska Televizija, la UNBU presentó los requisitos técnicos para que el concurso se lleve a cabo en Suroland.

Suroska Televizija and the Suroland Government formally launched the bidding process for interested cities to apply to host the contest on 12 august. The basic requirements to select a host city were set out in a document presented by the UNBU to Suroska Televizija following their win in Santiago:

• The venue must be covered with a capacity of at least 10,000 but ideally up to 15,000 attendees.
• An international press center must be able to accommodate no less than 1,550 journalists.
• Venues must also be provided for the opening and closing ceremonies of at least 3,000 attendees.
• The host city must have fairly priced hotel rooms, that are located in close proximity to the venue and the city center.
• The host city must be able to guarantee the safety and security of participants, members of delegations and guests.
• The host city must have modern transport infrastructure: an international airport and readily available transport between the airport, the city and hotels, in addition, *to convenient traffic in the city and the opportunity to provide additional transport routes.

Suršnica Convention Center stage

La identidad visual de UNMF 28 fue revelada por la UNBU el 12 de agosto. Revolution of Stars es el lema que la televisora anfitriona eligió para esta edición. Los colores rosa fucsia y azul marino componen la identidad gráfica. La revolución de estrellas es un simbolismo que recuerda la explosión de calidad y talento que se puede ver en el escenario.

Para la escenografía de UNMF 28, la televisora local se decantó por un escenario rectangular principal, y un escenario circular secundario. En el techo hay pantallas que conforman un circulo, los cuales pueden descender según el performance de cada país. Pantallas gigantes de 25 metros de alto por 60 metros de largo acompañan la escenografía al fondo.

Presenters

It was announced on 14 august by UNBU, that the presenters for the contest would be Tara Zupančič and Vid Valič. The Red Carpet opening ceremony was hosted by Peter Poles, Lea Sirk moderated the press conferences.

Tara Zupančič: She is a model and television presenter. She was the host of UNMF 5.

Vid Valič: Is a stand-up comedian, actor and TV presenter.

Opening and interval acts

It was announced on 14 July 2019 that the opening act of the both semi-finals would be a presentation in video. The opening act of the final was a parade of flags, and a performance of Lewis Capaldi.

The interval act of the first semi-final would be a performance of "Woman Like Me" by Little Mix ft. Ms Banks, while the opening act of the second semi-final would be song "The Greatest Show" by Hugh Jackman. In the grand final, the interval acts was a medley of songs Walk Me Home, Just Like Fire. Just Give Me A Reason, Try and What About Us by P!nk.
